FullAXS Connector Seals Optical and Power Connections in Outdoor Cable Assembly

The FullAXS connector seals optical and power connections in outdoor cable assemblies. These rugged connectors mate directly into the SFP modules through a bulkhead construction and provide a waterproof environment.

The latest wireless site architectures like UMTS, GSM, CMDA2000, TD-SCDMA, WiMax and LTE deploy fiber-optic feeders to the remote radio units. These FTTA patch cords require a high-performance LC connector to maintain optimum signal transmission.

FTTA (Fiber to the Antenna) Patch Cord

Fiber-to-the-antenna (FTTA) is a wireless site architecture in which optical fiber runs all the way up to the antenna, replacing much of what would normally be completed with heavy fullx-fullaxs-outdoor-fiber-cable-assembly coax cabling. It’s an attractive option for cellular towers because of its lighter weight, smaller diameter and ease of handling. It also offers a number of other important advantages, including reduced RF interference and the ability to use higher power levels.

FTTA CPRI cable assemblies are a key component of this new technology and help drive wireless innovation by supporting a more robust network infrastructure. Their durability, signal quality and cost-efficiency ensure optimal performance and scalability for the future of mobile communications.

This waterproof FTTA patch cord features ODVA, PDLC, NSN, Mini SC, Mini MPO and AARC connectors to withstand harsh outdoor environments. It’s available in a wide range of length variants and can be customized to meet your specific requirements.

Designed for high reliability in heavy industrial and harsh environment applications, FullAXS FTTA patch cables offer superior crush resistance. They feature a flame retardant LSZH jacket that is UV stabilized and resistant to many chemicals commonly used in industrial settings. The cable’s Corning fiber maintains flexibility and stability, making it ideal for FTTA base station pull far traction and RRU to BBU port interconnection applications.

FTTA (Fiber to the Tower) Patch Cord

The FTTA fiber optic cable assembly is a rugged outdoor connector with a waterproof LSZH jacket, designed for telecommunications applications and harsh industrial environments. The rugged FullAXS connector seals optical and power connections in the cable assembly with a bayonet design that provides an excellent electrical grounding connection to the shielded cable plug.

The cable assemblies are factory terminated in the connector, so no field termination is required. However, it is still important to perform the required tests on every piece of FTTA cable that you install, to verify the quality of the installation and to determine whether any damage was done during installation or transport. The tests should include cleaning, inspection, continuity using a visual fault locator and optical loss testing to compare losses before and after installation.

The FTTA solution is a wireless site architecture that utilizes optical fiber to replace most of what was traditionally completed with much heavier coax cabling. Typical FTTA cabling architectures consist of a baseband unit (BBU) located near the bottom of the tower and multiple remote radio units (RRUs) positioned at the top of the antenna mast. In a FTTA configuration, the BBU and RRU use the same fiber to transmit digital signals to the antennas at the top of the tower. The short span between the RRH and the antenna is completed with traditional coax cabling.

FTTA (Fiber to the Base Station) Patch Cord

The FullAXS water-proof connector is a fully integrated, factory-terminated and environmentally sealed solution that significantly reduces required drop cable installation in optical access networks. It is specifically designed to connect the RRH with the antenna mast to eliminate the need for costly and time-consuming copper drop cables. It also provides a more reliable connection between the active device and its receivers.

Next generation WiMAX and Long Term Evolution (LTE) Fiber To The Antenna (FTTA) connectivity designs require rugged cable assemblies for outdoor use. These assemblies need to directly plug into the optical transceivers though a bulkhead construction. This specific application demands that the connector function with a large tolerance in the Z-direction, and allows end users to select any available transceiver on the market.

In order to achieve this, the FTTA patch cord needs to be robust and have an easy-to-use locking mechanism. The FullAXS Mini connector seals both the electrical and optical connections in a single plug, providing protection against environmental conditions such as dust and water. It also features a bayonet lock that ensures secure, fast, and simple mating.

The FTTA patch cord can be used in Ericsson indoor-outdoor-armored-fiber-optic-cable-cable Remote Radio Heads with the FullAXS LC connector and is commonly deployed in FTTA applications for wireless tower sites. It is commonly used in some Ericsson FTTA connections where the shell encloses duplex LC connectors and plugs directly into the SFP at the panel of the RRH.

FTTA (Fiber to the Remote Radio Unit) Patch Cord

FTTA (fiber-to-the-antenna) is a wireless site architecture that uses optical fiber to replace much of what was traditionally completed with coax cabling. This allows baseband units (BBUs) situated near the ground to be connected directly to remote radio heads (RRHs) positioned nearby the antennas on top of the tower. Traditionally, the short span between RRH and antenna was completed with traditional coax cables, which increased cost, wind load on towers, and reduced flexibility.

Our FTTA base station fiber jumpers are meticulously crafted to address market demands. Equipped with break out structures at both ends and LC/SC/FC/ST fiber optic connectors, they are ideal for FTTA outdoor base station pull far traction, BBU to RRU port interconnection, and deployment in 3G, 4G, 5G, LTE, and distributed base stations. They are also compatible with various power communication systems.

In addition to its FTTA applications, the FullAXS connector system is well-suited for cable assemblies that need to connect to shielded coax cables. A built-in bulkhead panel mount device enables mechanical connection of the plug to the shielded cable with a bayonet coupling. In addition to ensuring optical and power connections, the Bulkhead Panel Mount Device can also provide a ground connection between the shielded cable braid and the metal bulkhead.

ODVA PDLC BBU/RRU patch cable is widely used in 3G,4G and WIMAX base station for CPRI application. It is compatible with Nokia’s FullAXS-LC waterproof connector for latest and next-generation mobile communication systems(Such as UMTS, GSM, CMDA2000, TD-SCDMA, WiMax, LTE).
