Geofabriform Revetment System and Geofabriform Damming Technology
Unlike riprap or precast articulated concrete blocks (ACB), Fabriform is delivered in panels that can be easily transported and installed by a small equipment crew. RTC Southern’s crew size averages four men per installation.
The rate of production varies by style and site conditions, but a common ditch lining installation typically involves placing 3,000 SF per day.
Economical
The Fabriform system is much more economical compared to other revetment systems. Unlike riprap, which is many pieces that can be displaced by hydraulic flows, a Fabriform system is a monolithic structure that resists erosion by applying its own weight and by attenuating the hydraulic energy. It can be easily sized to resist hydraulic uplift, and also relieve hydrostatic pressure beneath (or behind) it.
In addition, Geofabriform is very easy to install, as it does not require any additional heavy equipment time, like a rock truck or articulated concrete block (ACB). It is field sewn at the jobsite, laid in position, and then pumped full of high-strength flowable concrete grout which sets up into a uniformly patterned concrete liner. It can be installed in the wet or dry.
The seismic performance of the tailing dam with geofabriform is improved compared to that without geofabriform. The acceleration amplification factor Am, vertical displacement and horizontal displacement of the geofabriform dam are smaller than that of the non-geofabriform tailing dam. This is mainly due to the fact that the sand-grouted geofabriform can absorb the seismic acceleration and dampen the earthquake effects. The stability of the geofabriform tailing dam is further enhanced by the application of geotextile bags.
Easy to Install
The fabricated, geotextile bags are designed for easy installation. Unlike ACBs, which require large equipment for excavation, the bags are easily installed in a matter of hours. RTC Southern’s crew size is typically four men, much smaller than the crew needed to install ACBs.
The field-sewn bags are laid in place and pumped full of high-strength, flowable concrete grout. Once the concrete sets, the resulting concrete liner system is in-situ and ready to protect against erosion. The patterned concrete liners can be used on any slope, and provide a perfect controlled thickness. The lining system is highly versatile and incredibly easy to install, making it geomembrane suppliers an excellent choice for many different Geofabriform projects. This concrete-forming revetment is also a great alternative to riprap for sites with limited access or in remote locations.
Versatile
The Fabriform concrete lining system is an innovative concrete-forming technique which uses fabric to create large and uniformly patterned concrete liner systems. The fabric is field sewn at the project site and pumped full of high-strength, flowable concrete grout which sets up into a uniformly patterned concrete liner system without the need for forms. It can be installed on slopes and adapts to the contours of the subgrade during filling.
Full tailing hydraulic reclamation split film yarn woven geofabriform piled dam is a new method to construct a fine-grained tailings dam. It is aging resistant, high in anti-scouring safety performance and suitable for transformation, heightening and application of power plant ash disposal area, mine metallurgy industry tailing pond and the like.
A series of seismic experiments on a shake table have been conducted to test the dynamic performances of the tailings dam construction using geofabriform, and the results show that the acceleration amplification factor (Am), horizontal displacement and vertical displacement of the tailings dam with geofabriform are smaller than those of the tailings dam without geofabriform. In addition, the geofabriform has a higher compressive strength than the pure tailings sand because of its composite structure. Its internal friction angle and cohesion have been measured based on the slope sliding test, direct shear test and unconfined compression test.
Low Maintenance
A geofabriform methoddamming technology is a highly advanced technique that is used to build fine-grained tailings dams. It combines construction and operation safety control into one process, making it easy to operate, and also environmentally friendly. This new technology has already been applied in a project at the Xiaojiafen tailings reservoir engineering project, eliminating potential dangers triggered by fine-grained tailings, making the pond safe to operate.
The permeability and the water resistance of Geofabriform concrete are higher than those of conventional reinforced concrete structures, and they can be installed on a wide variety of grades. This allows for quick installation of erosion protection and prevents the need to dig up and dispose of the existing soil. The concrete is poured through a layer of high-strength, flexible Geofabriform geomembrane, creating a seamless liner system.
Geofabriform has been designed to be long-lasting, and it can be shaped into custom shapes and panel sections. It is easy to install and can be used on steep slopes. The lining can be filled with high-strength flowable concrete grout, and it can be easily adjusted to the shape of the subgrade during filling. The lining is also easy to transport and is quick to install, as there is no need for form work or curing. This makes it an ideal solution for a wide range of applications.
